MAYS LANDING — Atlantic Cape Community College’s new, 1,700-square-foot Wind Training Center at the Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City campus will officially begin Global Wind Organization (GWO) Basic Safety (Onshore) Training classes in April.

“Atlantic Cape is honored to support the wind industry by offering GWO Basic Safety Training,” said Atlantic Cape President Dr. Barbara Gaba. “We have worked diligently with industry experts worldwide to ensure that our facility provides the highest quality training program that is aligned with GWO standards."

The training program and supporting facility enable the state to strengthen its leadership position in offshore wind energy. Atlantic Cape broke ground on October 28, 2021 on the Wind Training Center as part of a $2.9 million grant from the State of New Jersey aimed at growing the state’s offshore wind industry.

The Wind Training Center provides the GWO Basic Safety (Onshore) Training courses in four modules - working at heights, manual handling, first aid and fire awareness. Training is delivered through a combination of theoretical and practical training.

“Atlantic Cape’s Wind Training Center will help position New Jersey residents for the thousands of good paying, skilled offshore wind jobs the industry will generate in the state,” said New Jersey Economic Development Authority Chief Executive Officer Tim Sullivan. “We are proud to support Atlantic Cape in this effort, which aligns closely with Governor Phil Murphy’s goal to grow our green economy and create a cleaner environment, while creating opportunities for New Jersey families.”
